Paper Bag Series

These works make use of paper bags as substrates in conjunction with layered imagery.  I am drawn to the idea that these materials are common and of the everyday.  In a sense they have had a life of their own and are not ‘precious’, but are rather, remnants of the world that surrounds us.  Conceptually, it supports my idea of sifting through memory.  Almost like sorting through trash, these ordinary elements can be pieced back together to recontextualize family mythologies and my own recollections.
